CM to monitor file movement

Last Updated 26 September 2011, 18:14 IST

Gowda, while interacting with reporters, said no file should be kept pending for more than 15 to 18 days.

“File clearance has begun from my office. The same should be followed by my colleagues too. If the files cleared by me are kept pending with ministers, then what’s the point in me clearing them? So I will visit my colleagues’ offices to monitor file movement. There’s nothing wrong in doing so, after all we are doing people’s work.”

While replying to a host of questions, Gowda reiterated that he would not be announcing any new programmes. He also said he would desist from visiting districts as that would disrupt officials’ work for at least 15 days in a month. “I prefer to monitor work from Bangalore.”

To a question as to who would be the next Lokayukta, Gowda said he was not going to rush through the selection process and added that the chief justice and the Opposition leaders would be consulted before making an appointment.
