Bhajans perfect prelude to Dasara

At a colourful inaugural ceremony, district in-charge minister S A Ramdas said that artistes would be taken to Chamundi Hill during the  inauguration of Dasara festivities on September 28. He said that each troupe would be allowed to sing during the day at the temple.

Addressing the audience bhajan mandali sub-committee president Rajesh Bore said that competitions were held throughout the State for the last 15 days.

Each district-level competition witnessed more than 1,500 artistes participating in the event. The best team from each district was selected to participate in the state-level competition. He said a total of Rs 25,000 cash would be given as prizes.

Singer Hussainsaab Kanagiri stole the show by reciting ‘Dasakeerthana’ at the programme.
Speaking at the inauguration, Kanakagiri urged the government to increase the cash prizes instituted for the tournament.

However, he expressed his happiness at the large number of participants at the competition.

MLA H S Shankarlingegowda, deputy commissioner P S Vastrad, MUDA commissioner C G Betsurmutt and others were present.

Duo sings

Medical education and district in-charge minister S A Ramdas displayed his singing prowess by rendering two bhajans at the inauguration. As the jam-packed artistes watched in awe, Ramdas was joined by his mother Sarjomma, who recited the bhajan along with him.
