Be it political, government or any private programme, the Government Girls School premises is the preferred choice. But the organisers are least bothered about the students who miss their class or even having a separate auditorium for such purpose.

Perpetual wait

It has been two years since a Guru Bhavan was proposed for the town. But it is yet to see the light of the day, thanks to lack of will on the part of people’s representatives and among teachers, said Government Employees’ Association taluk general secretary A Venkateshwara.

He told Deccan Herald that the Bhavan was proposed to come up on the outskirts of the town near Satya Sai Nagar (at survey no 409) on an acre of land. The site was donated by Patel Anjinappa Naidu to have a Government PU College.

The college’s SDMC president and the legislator had, in a meeting, decided to build a Guru Bhavan in 2010. The proposal was submitted to the Department authorities but till now, no work has been taken up on the Guru Bhavan.

Place for misdeeds

Today, the site has become a safe haven for illegal activities. But the authorities seem to blind over it.

Come Teachers’ Day, the people’s representatives promise to provide Rs one lakh towards construction of the Bhavan and forget till the next Teachers’ Day. Even lack of unity among the teachers’ association too has delayed the work on Guru Bhavan.

No access

However, the proposed Bhavan is two km away from the town and there is no proper access to the venue.

Hence, it would be fair to have the Bhavan somewhere near the town, he added.
