Design, not template, compromised, says CBI

Last Updated 14 August 2009, 11:06 IST

"With the technological advancement, the counterfeiters know about the kind of paper and ink that is being used in making currency notes and not the security template," a CBI spokesperson said.

The template is the top secret plate which is used for printing the currency.
By using the word compromised, the CBI means that the counterfeiters have deep knowledge about the kind of special ink, paper and other ingredients that go into the making of currency note.

Giving the details of the team that has been formed to investigate the leak of the design, the official said "a special team has been formed which consist of officers from CBI, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, RBI and Central Forensic Science Laboratory".
