The camp which began during the British rule is considered as the largest elephant camp amidst greenery in Asia.

The elephant camp is beside Cauvery river and large number of foreign tourists are visiting the place to enjoy the beauty of the nature.

The camp has 22 elephants. These elephants are shown to the tourists in packages along with information about them, their lifestyle, their diet etc. This arrangement has been made by State Jungle Lodge and Resort.

The camp has 100 years old bungalow along with cottages developed by Jungle Lodge. The tourists are given information on the life style of an elephant and its food habits.
The boating facility from Nanjarayapatna to Dubare has been done but now since the level of water is very low, the tourists have been crossing the river stepping over the stones, which again is a thrilling and unique experience.

The package starts at 9.30 am and under this package, the tourist get to give the tuskers a bath, give food to the elephants and spend lots of time with the elephants. In a tourist package, the tourist gets to bathe the elephants, and have a look into their daily life, their food system and also mount on one of the elephants and go out on a safari.

DCF B B Mallesh said “efforts are made to give details on wild life and bio diversity to the tourists.” The tourists can also go for trekking, nature camp, bird watching in the premises.
