The accused, Kireet Singh from Ahmedabad and Syed Allahbaksh, resident of Tannery Road, were arrested for carrying gold powder while arriving at BIAL from Dubai.
On a tip off about gold being illegally transported, the customs officials thoroughly checked the passengers travelling from Dubai to Bangalore.
On Monday morning, as the accused arrived at BIAL via Emirate Airlines, the officials checked the handbags which contained gold powder.
On questioning, the accused did not respond. They had no details about where it was being transported to. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
