NRI Harshal Dattu Pathak was arrested here after a complaint by his wife Ushma recently, who alleged that her husband cheated her and married another woman in UK while she went to her native village in Panchmahal district for their child's delivery, Fatehgung police inspector H J Banker said.
According to the complaint, Harshal fled to UK in 2003 and when she returned home her in-laws began pressuring her for dowry and forced her to leave the house. Banker said the accused claimed that he has divorced Ushma while she said that she has not signed any divorce papers as claimed by her husband and her father-in-law Dattu Pathak, a professor in M S University.
The divorce documents produced by Harshal are fake, she said. When she learnt of her husband's visit to the city, she lodged a complaint following which he was arrested.
