Revanna asks govt to release funds

Warns of dharna in front of chief ministers house from November 3

Addressing a media conference here on Saturday, he said development has been stalled in the state. More than 70 taluks have been affected by drought, but the government is yet to initiate any relief measures. Taking a dig at the government, he said half of the cabinet is in jail and the other half are running around to get bail.

Former CM failed to act
“When Yeddyurappa was the chief minister, all legislators of the district, led by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, had staged a dharna in front of the former’s house.

Yeddyurappa had promised to convene a special session to release funds for development projects. Apart from releasing funds for the engineering college, the government hasn’t responded to any other request. He warned of staging a protest in front of the chief minister’s house from November 3 if D V Sadananda Gowda failed to start relief work in the district,” he added.

Revanna warned the government that intensive agitation would be taken up if the government cancelled BPL cards of people, who hadn’t submitted RR numbers.
He alleged that the food and civil supplies minister was implementing such a scheme with the intention of making money.

Trouble with RR number
There are many families living with a single RR number. Officials can make the decision only after visiting the houses. But, the whole process has been handed over to a private company.

If such is the case, what is the work of village accountants? he questioned. More than 30,000 people would lose their BPL cards if the government went ahead with its plans, he said.

For the past several months, the government hasn’t given old-age and widow pension. If the government doesn’t solve these issues, protests would be held all across the state, he said.

MLC Patel Shivaram, former Rajya Sabha MP H K Javaregowda and CMC president C R Shankar and others were present at the media conference.
