The accident occurred as a car proceeding towards Bangalore rammed a two-wheeler that came in its way, knocked off a pedestrian before diving into a 50 feet ditch on NH-7.
The deceased have been identified as Srilatha (25) and her mother-in-law Subhadramma (55), who were travelling in the car; Manjunath (27) and Ramanjinappa (22), the rider and pillion rider, and Peddanna (38), the pedestrian.
Srilatha’s husband Channa Reddy and his sister’s children Keerthana and Sainath have been hospitalised with grievous injuries. Manjunath, a resident of Gontigana Hudya in the taluk was a home guard personnel while Srilatha was a software engineer at Bangalore.
