Hindu Jagran Vedike and Yuva Bharath Swabhiman Trust condemning the printing of pictures of deities on crackers asked the traders not to sell products with such pictures and urged the buyers not buy such crackers.

The activists visited MRM open theatre area where the crackers were being sold and urged the buyers and sellers not to insult the gods by purchasing products with pictures of deities on them.

“On one hand we worship the gods and goddess and on the other hand we insult them by purchasing the products with their pictures because after using the crackers the covers go to the waste,” said the activists adding that some crackers have pictures of gods right on the products itself. These products are burnt directly during the festival.

Many a time the covers of the crackers are left on the roads, which are often walked over by people. The activists said that printing such pictures on any products, not just crackers should be banned. They distributed handbills in this regard. Vedike Leader Hi Shi Ravikumar said that the matter will be brought to the notice of the Government.
