Dreams on fire

Though he always dreamt of being an actor, Chirag also wants to enter politics in the future.

In the past few years, the Hindi film industry has welcomed actors from political families. Actors like Ritiesh Deshmukh and Arunoday Singh have tried to establish themselves in Bollywood and now, it’s Chirag. But the 27-year-old actor says that he has not used his father’s influence in gaining his debut project. “Miley Na Miley Hum is produced by a close family friend.” However, Chirag is proud and content with the fact that Miley Na Miley Hum is his debut film.

“What more could I have asked for? An ideal production house, an experienced director, an aesthetical cinematographer and three beautiful women to romance,” he remarks.

Chirag always dreamt of being an actor. He idolises many actors especially, Amitabh Bachchan. “Each and every performer has his own sense of style on-screen; they have a unique personality which works for their films. I like Salman’s style and Shah Rukh’s intensity as an actor, but Bachchan saab is special. I still remember coming back home after watching his films and practising his dialogues from the film in front of my mirror. Eventually, I realised that this is my passion and I want to pursue it as a career.”

Talking about working with an established star like Kangana Ranaut in his very first film, Chirag explains that though he was nervous, he was never intimidated by his co-star’s presence. “I am here to prove that I too have a strong presence on-screen. I am confident and I am also sure that my dedication and hard work will help me establish a strong toehold in Hindi cinema,” he says.

About his role in the movie, he says that he plays the character of a young tennis player who comes from a broken family. Veteran actors Kabir Bedi and Poonam Dhillon are also a part of the film and are cast as Chirag’s parents. Chirag says that the film deals with the problems people face in dysfunctional families.

“The story reflects how people hailing from unhappy families have a different perspective towards life. My character in the film faces the same problem and this affects his professional and personal life as well as his attitude.” Chirag defines the film as a romantic movie with sports serving as a backdrop.
Though a majority of Bollywood films are shot abroad, Miley Na Miley Hum has been completely shot in India. “We shot the entire film in Mumbai, Nasik and Goa. Many of the songs sequences were shot in Goa.” The film also stars Sagarika Ghatge of Chak De India fame and Neeru Bajwa who had made her debut opposite Vivek Oberoi in Prince.

The film has been directed by Tanveer Khan and the cinematographer is Baba Azmi. The music is composed by acclaimed music directors Sajid-Wajid and Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics. The movie has been produced by Anuj Saxena of Maverick Productions, which has films like Aloo Chaat, Chase and Buddha Mil Gaya. Maverick Productions has also produced films in Gujarati, Kannada and Malayalam.  Miley Na Miley Hum will be released, nationwide, on November 4.
