No complaints against Governor Razi: Assam chief minister

“I have made it clear that I have no complaints against the governor. I don't know about the charges. I have never made any complaint against him,” Gogoi told reporters here.

The chief minister said he had "no knowledge" about reports that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had raided the offices of two of Razi's aides in Ranchi. The CBI is said to have discovered that the Ranchi Raj Bhavan committed irregularities when Razi was the governor of Jharkhand.

Gogoi's comments come after Razi was reportedly asked by the central government to quit following complaints that his aides and staff allegedly made money for transfers and postings when he was governor of Jharkhand. He was sworn in as Assam governor July 27.

Asked if he was happy with the functioning of Razi, Gogoi said: “Today he is my governor. Why should I be unhappy with him?”

Meanwhile  Governor Syed Sibtey Razi asserted  that "I am not going to resign. I was Governor, I am a Governor and will be Governor till October (when his term ends),"  he told reporters after meeting Home Minister P Chidambaram.

Reacting to reports that the Prime Minister has asked him to quit, he said "there is no indication from the Prime Minister. I have no idea what is the basis of the report. Yeh bilkul galat hai (This is absolutely false)."

Sources in the Prime Minister's office also termed the media reports that he has been asked to quit as "totally untrue".

AICC General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi also expressed ignorance about any controversy involving the Governor. "We are not aware of any such thing", he said
