Changed image: Tusshar KapoorMany shades to his character

Actor Tusshar Kapoor, who has shed his guy-next-door image for his upcoming movie ‘The Dirty Picture’, says he is not perturbed of being dubbed as a ‘soft porn’ star. Tusshar will be seen in the Milan Luthria film, a biopic based on the life and death of Silk Smitha, alongside Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi and veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah.

The film is an ode to the life of the southern sexy siren Vijaylakshmi, better known as Silk Smitha. The film shows her journey to stardom followed by her sudden demise. “There are lots of shades to my character. It is not something that will get overshadowed by the title. My image is not going to be damaged. Today, sex is not a taboo anymore. I think even on screen and even in our society, people talk about it freely. Even if I get a soft porn image, I don’t have a problem,” said Tusshar.

The actor essays the role of a writer named Ramakant. While Ramakant is genuinely in love with the character portrayed by Vidya, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah plays the character of an ageing superstar who lusts after her. While Emraan Hashmi, on the other hand, hates her. There are some intimate scenes in the film but the actor says he wasn’t uncomfortable doing it. “I think it is part of your job. As per the demand of the script, you have to do intimate scenes. The only awkward feeling you get is when junior artistes are watching you and you want to get it right first. It is not uncomfortable because they are watching it but you just want to do it fast. You don’t want to be stuck doing the same thing again and again,” Tusshar said.

Also, he had to lift Vidya for a photoshoot of ‘The Dirty Picture’. Since Vidya, had put on weight for her role, Tusshar could not get his act right and ended up giving over 150 shots. “I found it easy to lift Vidya despite her weight. We had to do the shot approximately 150 times. The shot did not happen properly either due to position or expression or profile,” he said. The film releases on December 2.

Hard-working: ShaamUseful workshop

Acting workshops are common in Hollywood and British cinema. The trend is catching up in the southern film industry too and one was recently conducted by director V Z Durai for his uniquely titled film.
Instead of using any words, the director, known for his work in Mugavari, Thotti Jaya and Nepali, will use a symbol of six candles to depict the title of the movie.
Durai and his lead actor Shaam conducted the ten-day workshop. Actress Poonal Kaur too participated in it along with the crew. “As the script travels with a child, the ten-day workshop has been very useful. It gave us enough confidence to shoot even a complicated scene. All thanks to the director for this,” said Shaam. Sri Kanth Deva will score the music and Mathi will do the art work for the film.

Enjoying: Hansika MotwaniExams first, party later!

Hansika Motwani, who gave an impressive performance in recently released Velayudham, is not basking in the glory of the film’s success. Instead, she is burning the midnight oil to prepare for her exams. “I have to write the exam in London and I would like to do well. I am studying hard to score good marks. I prefer to study the subject thoroughly before taking the exam, so I am concentrating only on my books at the moment,” she said. So what about celebrating the film’s success? “I will party after the exam is done!”

Yet another remake in B-Town

Ajit’s hit film Mankatha will now be remade in Hindi by producer Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green. Raja has produced films like Siruthai, Singam and Naan Mahaan Alle. “Yes, my production house has got the Hindi remake rights of Mankatha and we will soon be taking it to Bollywood. The cast and crew are yet to be finalised. We will announce it after November 15,” said Raja.

Tooth trouble

It wasn’t a pleasant morning for Arshad Warsi as he woke up with a toothache. “NO gd mrng today coz I am having a painful mrng. The pain I am experiencing in my mouth is in full glory.... Aaaaa...(sic),” Arshad posted on his Twitter page. “I wish the judiciary system was run by a dentist. Any tooth that causes pain, just pull it out n chuck it,” he added.

‘Bigg Boss’ has a hater!

Though Farah Khan Ali’s friend Pooja Bedi is in the ‘Big Boss 5’ house, the jewellery designer plans to stop watching the reality-show, where inmates are busy mudslinging.

She is upset that her friend didn’t try to protect the dignity of Mahek Chahal. “Going to stop watching ‘BB’ as it seems to have inmates with no guts or grace. Most of them are losing their self-respect (sic),” Farah posted on her Twitter page.

“On a positive note, stop watching crappy reality shows like ‘Big Boss’. Let’s spend that time with people we love,” she added. It was one of the episodes of the show last week that irked the designer. The episode had Akashdeep Saigal taking a dig at actress Mahek Chahal and bringing up her past. Farah is upset that Pooja did not stand up for Mahak.

“Everyone has a past & no one has a right to discuss a woman’s past on national TV.
Disgusting. Surprised that Pooja, who normally has so much to say is quiet when someone is attacking a woman’s character,” she posted.

“Pooja is a friend of mine but what is right is right and she should have stood up for Mahek when that Psycho Akash said horrible things about her. Disappointed she did not,” she added.
