Corp Bank workers' national meet today

Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, Corporation Bank Workers’ Organisation General Secretary Ramanath Kini said delegates from all over India will attend the conference.

The conference will be inaugurated by Corporation Bank General Manager B R Bhat. MP Nalin Kumar kateel, District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar, Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat will be the chief guest. NOBW General Secretary Ashwani Rana will preside. Karnataka Pradesh BMS President K Ramakrishna Poonja, Bank of India Workers Organisation President P G Nanivadekar will also take part.


The demands which will be discussed in the conference are refund of 2.87 times of November 2007 revised pay contribution towards pension fund deducted from the salary arrears.

Kini said there is a need to upgrade the pension along with the revision of wages in the bank and dearness Allowance with 100 per cent neutralisation for all pensioners. There is a need for improvement in family pension and extending facility of commutation of family pension. The family pension is not revised. Accordingly, many of the families receive less pension.

He said all those employees who resigned from service owing to health problems or other problems should be given pension facility. There is no compassionate appointment in banking industry. Though former Finance Minister P Chidambaram had directed all the banks to recruit on compassionate ground, it has not been implemented so far, he added.

Kini said enhanced gratuity of Rs 10 lakh should be given to the bank employees with effect from January 1, 2006 on par with Central government employees, instead from May 24, 2010.

All the cadres in banking sector should be given bonus. At present, bonus is given to only those who get less than Rs 10,000 and to the Chairman and Managing Director of the Bank, he added.
