University of Delhi: MBA Programme 2012

The faculty of Management Studies (FMS) of the University of Delhi invites applications for an admission test for MBA and Ph.D programmes.  The last date for online registration is November 30, 2011. Candidates applying to the programmes are required to visit the FMS website ( and apply online. Applications will be received only through the online registration process.

Eligibility criteria: Candidates applying for admission to the first year of MBA (Full-time) programme must have pursued at least a three-year Bachelor’s degree programme after 12 years of formal schooling in any discipline. The minimum requisite percentage of marks in different disciplines is as follows:

Arts, Commerce or Social Sciences - 50%, Sciences - 55%, Mathematics or Statistics - 60%, Medicine, Engineering or Technology - 60% / CGPA of at least 6.00 in a scale of 10.0 Students with a postgraduate degree or second degree examination may also apply.

Note: Candidates appearing for the final examination of Bachelor’s / Post Graduate degree examinations may also apply. There is no reservation whatsoever for the graduates of Delhi University or the residents of Delhi.

Selection procedure: Selection for the MBA and Ph.D programmes will be on the basis of the Common Admission Test 2011 scores, group discussion and an interview.

Preparatory programme for Indian students
University of California, Irvine, has described an option for Indian high school graduates to be admitted to UC Irvine and successfully complete their undergraduate studies within the regular 4-year undergraduate study period.

This option is called International Undergraduate Preparation Program (IUPP) which is a rigorous educational curriculum that prepares qualified students for undergraduate admission and academic success at UC Irvine.

University of Southampton’s admissions
The University of Southampton’s School of Social Sciences is inviting applications for PG Diploma/ MSc International Political Economy for the academic year 2012. The programme is designed to equip students to undertake independent research in politics and international relations, with special interest in the field of international political economy.

The programme aims to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues, theoretical debates, philosophical and methodological debates and experience in the application of the principal methods of data collection and data analysis in social science research. The programme also provides necessary skills to design and complete a dissertation on a specialist topic in the field of international political economy.

The programme is studied full-time over one year or part time over two years and comprises six modules and a dissertation. The taught component consists of 30 study weeks divided into two semesters, during which time students study the six modules.
Students who successfully complete the taught component undertake a three-month period of supervised research for a Masters dissertation.

There is also a research track International Political Economy programme on offer which provides modules on advanced research methods and is designed for students wishing to pursue research-focused careers in government, academia or elsewhere, and is ideal for students wishing to embark upon PhD studies.

The course commences in September 2012 and applications will be accepted until May 2012. Candidates with a good undergraduate degree (upper second-class or higher) or equivalent can apply for the programme. However, students with lower second class will also be eligible for admission to one of the Master’s programmes if there is sufficient evidence of upper second-class quality in the student’s work.

The programme fee for the year is £12500.
