They are the victims of social boycott for the greed of land sharks.

Addressing media here on Wednesday, Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha Vedike President K S Shivaram alleged that the family of Shivanna consisting of his mother Gowramma, wife Lakshmi and two kids was ostracised, denying the right to normal life in the month of June. The reason being- one acres of land (survey no 101 Habatur village) belonging to the family, where they have also constructed a house.

Gopal, a former ZP member, Mahadev and others who have an eye on the said piece of land have been creating problems for the family.

When Shivanna dared to fight them, taking the matter to the police in June, he had no option but to take to heels fearing for his life. He has gone missing since then. Subsequently, his mother Gowramma died, which Shivaram suspects was a murder.

Now, Lakshmi remains the lone woman to fight for the property and hence the land sharks are playing every card to gobble the property. Recently, Lakshmi was also denied drinking water, besides grocery and other essential commodities earlier. He was surprised to note that the local MLA who also belongs to the same community is aware of the issue, but has kept mum.

Shivaram warned of intensified protest setting a deadline of one week for the district administration to set right the issue.
