Misappropriation of funds; ZP team visits TP

Last Updated 09 November 2011, 19:23 IST

Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Venkata Reddy and Government Tools and Training Centre, Bangalore Managing Director H R Jayappa were alleged to have ‘misused’ Rs 16,80,000 kept aside for the training. Reddy has been kept under suspension since three months.

As per the project, training was supposed to be given to at least 75 rural members through the GTTC, Bangalore.

The team found that Venkata Reddy had created fake documents without conducting the training. Besides, eligible candidates have not been approved by gram sabhas for the training. No attendance book was maintained. While one book mentioned that 117 individuals were trained, the number of applications for the training received was 75.

However, there are no records to prove that certificates were issued to the trainees.

To ascertain the truth, ZP president Manjula called a few applicants on their mobile phones. One of the applicants Murali said he was a resident of Bangalore, while another Suresh said he had not received any such training.

But Reddy has claimed to have conducted the training and transferred Rs 16 lakh cheque to H R Jayappa.

A decision has been taken to initiate legal action against the GTTC Managing Director and blacklist the GTTC. At a recent ZP general body  meeting, it was decided to form a team to investigate into the issue, hence the team had visited the TP.
