'Bank employees live under constant fear'

Delivering the inaugural address for the 9th All India Conference of Corporation Bank Officers’ Association, he pointed out several failed attempts of bank mergers and alleged that the government who is the employer is not committed to the welfare of the banks and its employees.

The nationalised banks have done a meritorious service to the nation. Even though their market share has come down due to the advent of private and foreign banks, the public’s trust towards them is going up even at the time of economic slow down, he said and added that there is no need for any merger in this scenario. The government is getting away from its sphere so that they can introduce private participation in the name of which the country can be looted further, he accused.

President of Corporation Bank Employees’ Union (CBEU) Walter Lasrado, Vice President of CBEU V Raghuraman and General Secretary K S Joshi were Guests of Honour for the occasion.

HoD of Commerce at LIBA College Chennai Prof Victor Louis Antwan delivered the Key note address on “Present economic situation and alternatives” on the occasion. CBOA President S R Shukla presided.

Hundreds of delegates from all over the country took part in the conference that will conclude on Sunday.
