Tata Motors launches Sumo Gold

Tata Motors, on Thursday, launched its Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) — Tata Sumo Gold with a new engine CR4 Turbo (Common Rail) engine. The 2956cc engine delivers an power output of 85Ps @ 3000 rpm and torque of 250Nm@1000 to 2000 rpm with a cetrified mileage of 14.7 kmpl under ideal test conditions.

The new Sumo is priced in the range of Rs 5.37 lakh to Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom Bangalore) and is launched in 4 variants — GX, EX, LX & CX — along with three year warranty or 1,00,000 km, whichever is earlier.

Tata Motors Head (Utility Vehicles Product Group) Ashesh Dhar said the company has so far sold 10,000 Tata Sumo Gold and that the company is doing an average monthly sale of 3,300 Sumo range of vehicles.

The car has been conceived and designed keeping in mind needs of the young and progressive customer looking for a stylish, new-age vehicle that is powerful and takes on any terrain with ease, the company said. It also boasts of several features including new headlight design, prominent tail lamp cluster, high power forward and rear fog lamps.

A leather wrapped steering wheel, with hydraulic power assistance, a stylish centre silver console and a dashboard, plush fabrics are its other attributes.
