'Survey will reveal number of child labourers'

Addressing the media in Bangalore on Thursday, Gowda said a national survey had begun under which working children are being identified to ascertain their numbers.

The survey work is going on in 17 districts where the Centre has opened 82 schools under the National Child Labour Project, and the Centre has funded Rs 2.75 lakh for this purpose. The survey is in the final stages and the report is expected shortly.

The State Government is funding the survey work in the remaining 13 districts, and its report is expected in the second week of December.
