Jeweller robbed of 28 gold rings

Last Updated 10 November 2011, 20:11 IST

Police said a couple and a girl came to Shubham Jewellers on Bazaar Street at 10.45 am and requested the manager Ashok to show them gold rings of different sizes and prices.

When Ashok placed a tray of rings before them, another man came and told Ashok he wanted to buy a gold ring. Ashok displayed the tray and requested him to choose the ring. He tried a few rings and said they did not match the size of his finger and wanted to order a ring. He drew Ashok into a conversation, while the woman said she wanted to have a look at all the rings.

Soon, two other men came on the pretext of buying jewellery. When Ashok was busy talking to them at the counter, the couple and their daughter left the shop along with the tray, police said.

The suspect at the counter told Ashok that he would come back after some days and place an order and went away. The two other suspects also said they wanted some time to decide on buying jewellery and left promising to come back. When Ashok went to move the tray back to its place, he found it missing and realised that he was duped.
