Dr Kumaraswamy from Tumkur, who travelled by 9W316 Jodhpur-Mumbai-Bangalore flight, found that the foreign currency kept in the baggage was missing when he landed in Bangalore. He found the baggage lock tampered with and broken.

The police said: “The passengers have been repeatedly cautioned not to keep heavy cash and expensive articles in the check-in baggage. But, they violate this to escape customs.”

The doctor was not sure whether the baggage was tampered with, while boarding the original flight or the changeover flight in Mumbai.
