Lives of the uber-rich

You can’t be filthy rich without getting a little dirty. Star World welcomes you into the lives of the filthy rich Darlings of New York with Dirty Sexy Money. Premiering August 20 at 10 pm, the critically-acclaimed series boasts of a fabulous star cast including Emmy nominee Peter Krause (Dirty Sexy Money), Golden Globe winner Donald Sutherland (Ordinary People) and William Baldwin (Backdraft).

The Darling clan is one of New York’s most powerful families. With their power and prestige, they are often involved in embarrassing scandals and serious legal troubles. Fortunately, the family patriarch, Tripp Darling (Sutherland) has recruited idealistic lawyer Nick George (Krause) to take care of their legal needs and protect the family name.

Since his late father also represented the Darlings, Nick has grown up in the shadow of this high-profile family.

Despite his reluctance to follow in his father’s footsteps, Nick is persuaded to take on the job as the Darlings’ personal lawyer.

The show mixes intelligent drama with a very sharp wit. Its strongest feature
is its beautifully developing characterisation of its main protagonists, each revealing themselves to have more depth than we are originally shown. In other words,
the show is too interesting for the glimpse into the lives of the uber-wealthy it gives the viewers. Catch up with the filthy rich Darlings in Dirty Sexy Money starting August 20, every Thursday at 10 pm.

A web of action

HBO presents The Matrix starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishbourne, Carrie Anne Moss and Hugo Weaving on August 20 at 9 pm.

With such a big star cast, hip visual effects, martial arts choreography and a new age style in filmmaking, The Matrix follows the story of Neo, an average computer programmer who one day receives word that he may be the saviour of the universe, except that it isn’t really the universe he has been born to know all his life.

Whisked away by hacker Trinity and Morpheus, head of an elite underground rebel unit, Neo is trained in the art of being a saviour and must do all he can to fend off an enemy known only as Agent Smith.
