All India seminar

The Regional Institute of English, Bangalore will conduct a seminar at the All India level from January 10-12, 2012 on the theme “Second Language Teacher Education – Issues and Challenges”.

Those interested in presenting papers may send in abstracts of their papers to the Seminar coordinators, All India Seminar 2012, Regional Institute of English, South India, Jnanabharathi Campus, Bengaluru – 560 056 or at elt@riesi.co.in before November 20, 2011.

Papers are invited on the following related sub-themes: Teacher Education Policies and Trends; Multi-level Classrooms in Teaching and Training Situations – Problems and Implications; Slow Bloomers – Encountering Challenges; Curriculum and Content at the Pre-service and In-service levels – Strength, Limitations and Suggestions; ICT in Second Language Teacher Education; English Language Learning – Problems and Remedial Measures; Trends in Testing and Evaluation in Language Teaching and Teacher Education Contexts; English Language Education in the Context of NCF 2005 – Implications for Teacher Education.

Practising teachers, teacher educators, policy makers and research scholars may present papers at the seminar.

TOEFL scholarships

Created specifically for Indian students, the 2012 TOEFL Scholarship Program will award 10 scholarships valued at approximately US$70,000. Scholarship funding can be applied to either undergraduate or graduate study for the 2012 academic year.

Ten scholarships will honour Indian students demonstrating academic success including:
Four US$10,000 scholarships for study at a college or university located in Australia, Canada, UK, and/or the United States and listed in the TOEFL® Destinations Directory.
Six US$5,000 scholarships for study at any college or university listed in the TOEFL® Destinations Directory.

FIITJEE’s Talent Reward exam

FIITJEE will be conducting the FIITJEE Talent Reward Exam on December 25, 2011. FIITJEE Talent Reward Examination (FTRE) is meant for students presently in Class V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI and XII, who have as their target NTSE and Junior Olympiads; excellence in boards; SAT- I; SAT-II; TOEFL and advance placements for admission to US University; IITJEE / MEDICAL / XII Board or integrated school / Olympiads / KVPY / SAT Plus and other engineering entrance competitive examinations.

Students can use this exam as an assessment tool to decide about their best career choice / option and the need to join any relevant coaching / support programme. Substantial study scholarships and cash awards will be given to those students who perform exceptionally well in the exam. The exam will be held in different sessions starting from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm with proper intervals. The questions will cover all the important topics of Science & Mathematics and also test the student’s IQ & aptitude for their overall assessment.

The last date for the registration is December 11, 2011 with a registration fee of Rs. 300 and after December 11, 2011 the late fees of Rs. 100 along with the registration fee will be charged till December 20, 2011. Results will be announced from  January 4, 2012 to January 19, 2012.
