Tradition adds colour to literary meet

The tableux, dolls and vehicle jatha was inaugurated by Manila Seer. Chende from Kerala, Dollu kunitha, Kalladka dolls, Bhajan teams, tiger dance, colourful umbrellas, Nasik band team, Aati Kalenja, students, Scouts and Guides team, Bharath Seva Dal, Self-Help Group members, Daff team participated in the procession.

Folk art teams of the procession were inaugurated by Kallenchipade Thaniyappa Nalike. More than 29 teams participated in the procession. Tableux by the students highlighted the culture and tradition of Tulu Nadu. Zilla Panchayat President Shailaja Bhat hoisted sammelan flag.

Book expo
Exhibition of traditional items, ‘Chukkichitra,’ book exhibition cum sale was another centre of attraction. A large number of book lovers were seen thronging the book stalls. Viveka Jagruthi Balaga, Shanthi Prakashana, Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy, Hemamshu Prakashana, Mangalore University Prasaranga division, Sahithya Pushthaka Kendra, Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Research Centre, Sathya Sai Lokaseva Prakashana, Deepa Book House, Ramakrishna Mutt, Ananthaprakash, Gayathri Prakashana, Varanashi Research Centre and others had set up stalls at the venue.

The life and service of Sathya Sai Baba was also exhibited at the venue. The entire venue was decked up without using plastic covers.
