The injured have been identified as Mohammed Khusro, Mohammed Ameen, Shoaib, Farhan and Jeeshan, residents of Rajivnagar and nearby areas. All are in the age group of 18 to 25.
K R Traffic police said they had been to the hill shrine in the evening.

The incident occurred when they were returning to the city. The investigators surmise that the steering lock could be the cause behind the mishap, that occurred near milestone three a few yards before the road that connects to Uttanahalli. If not the thick bushes, there were chances of the vehicle falling down further resulting in major mishap.

The cab rammed into the parapet wall. Except Shoaib who suffered a cut on his chin, the others escaped with minor injuries. They were treated at Gopal Gowda Hospital in Nazarbad.

However, it is not known why the five had been to hills. According to police they had been to the tourist spot for the illuminated view of the city from the top.

Moreover, it is learnt that the vehicle belongs to another person, who had left the same in a garage for repair. One of the victims happens to be the son of the garage mechanic.
He had taken the vehicle without the knowledge of his father, only to meet with the mishap.
