'Encourage students to set high individual growth'

He was speaking at the valedictory of a workshop on education organised for BEd trainees at St Joseph’s college of Education here recently. The duty of the teachers is to impart knowledge and skills and enable students to become an assent for the nation.

The job of a teacher do not end with imparting lessons. A good teacher should encourage students formulate higher goals and work along with them to help students attain the goal.

The teachers should give individual attention to each student and discuss with them the social issues and problems from an objective point of view. It would make students develop a rational thought and equip them with a constructive approach, he said.

Education is most effective when teacher-student relationships operate in a friendly, cooperative and positive manner, he opined.

Thomas A Vazahappally, Bishop of Mysore graced the occasion.

Thomas Becket D’ Souza, secretary and correspondent of St Joseph institution, principal Marcel Enos  were present.
