False info to govt: Notice to Tahsildar

The Act was violated in the month of January. The Tahsildar T Rekha who was serving in Madikeri is presently serving as administrator of Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology.

She has been asked to answer to the notice within seven days. If she fails to answer, then the government will be asked to initiate action, the notice said. It was said that Jayanthi R Shetty was growing coffee, cardamom, banana in 14.40 acre jamma bane land and had asked the authorities to fix the tax. On verification, the Tahsildar had fixed Rs 8.19 tax per acre land.

However, MLC M C Nanaiah complained that there was no farm activities in the said land.

Accordingly, when AC Dr M R Ravi visited the spot, he found that someone else was taking up agriculture activities in two acre land for the last five to six months. In the remaining land, the forest department had grown acacia. On a whole, no agriculture related activities were taken up on the land. The AC cancelled the tax for Jayanthi Shetty for giving false information. The AC has also issued notice to Rekha for giving false information to the government.
