Lokpal Bill alone won't end graft: Medha

At a meeting of the National Alliance of People’s Movements, Patkar, a core committee member of Team Anna, said, “The Bill has been set as the immediate goal to give the campaign a focus, to mobilise people. It should not be mistaken to be an overwhelming solution. Instead, people should take up issues and drive corruption out of local bodies.”

She said there is a rising demand for a new regulation to guide land acquisition process. “We want a Development Planning Act, not an act facilitating acquisition. Compensation to land losers must not be restricted to doling out cash but must revolve around providing them with alternative livehoods”.
