The incident occurred when the labourers working in the house found a semi-circular shaped object and when they tried to break it open with an hammer, it exploded, police said.
Police suspect that it was an unexploded hand grenade. Such type of explosives are normally found with only police and military.
Senior police officials have reached the spot and investigations are on.
The house belongs to one Akhilesh Jain, police added.
