The fair, which will conclude on November 26, attracted hundreds of teachers, who chose the titles on various subjects at the total 85 stalls. As many as 115 publication and book-sellers participated in the event. The topics ranged from teaching methodologies, maths, science, children’s psychology and growth to science.

On Monday, the inaugural day, teachers from government higher and lower primary schools of Kolar taluk took part. There was a great demand for book series brought out on various subjects and personalities. The books were on sale at 20 per cent discount.

The higher primary schools are given Rs 13,000 and the lower primary schools, Rs 3,000 for the purchase of the books. The officers at the venue announced that the teachers may buy more using the fund remaining after purchasing the books on discount.

The lower primary schools were instructed to buy 80 per cent of books in Kannada and 20 pc in English while the higher primary schools were told to buy 70 per cent Kannada books, 20 pc English and 10 per cent of books in Hindi.

On Tuesday, teachers from Mulbagal participated and on Wednesday, teachers from Bangarpet and Kolar Gold Fields, on Thursday from Malur and on Friday teachers from Srinivaspur taluk will get the benefit of the book fair, said Block Education Officer Shivalingaiah.

Education officer A N Nagendra Prasad and Subject inspector C R Ashok were present on the occasion.
