Children faint after consuming drug; One discharged from hospital

Tejas Subramanyam, six years, son of Manjunath of JP Nagar though had some minor ailments his health was found in order.  He was discharged on Wednesday.While three others Afnan Khan, two years, son of Abhith of Shantinagar, Sumala Fathima, four years, daughter of Sariq Khan of Nachanahalli and Greeshma, two years, daughter of Prakash of Nagamangala admitted after consuming the same ANZ drug are undergoing treatment.

According to sources, the condition of one among the three remaining too is quite okay, but the parents have reservations about their improvement.

Tejas who was suffering from stomach ache had been allegedly taken to the clinic of Dr Manjuanath in JP Nagar on Monday.

 He is also a doctor at Cheluvamba hospital. He diagnosed the presence of worms in his stomach and prescribed the afore mentioned drug. Tejas who consumed the tonic after going home, subsequently fainted.

The anxious parents rushed him to Manjunath, who shifted him to the hospital. Tejas was followed by three other kids who had also consumed the same drug, but prescribed by different doctors, to the hospital.

Medical superintendent of the hospital Dr Krishnamurthy told Deccan Herald, it is only after the report the exact cause could be ascertained.  The office of assistant drug controller here is learnt to have sent the samples of the drug to a chemical laboratory in Bangalore. The report is expected in one week.
