The first, a satirical comedy, with an equally flaring title — ‘Thank You For Smoking,’ is such a ribtickling affair  that “at first you think you shouldn’t laugh, then admit you can’t help yourself,” as chockful of chuckles escape you while the drama unfolds.

Adapted from Christopher Bukcley’s novel, by Jason Whitman, its full of comic wit and timing, and revolves around an amoral tobacco industry lobbyist juggling between raising his son and romancing a journalist while pitching for cigarette product placement in Hollywood films.

Primarily known for its musical score and seven academy awards, ‘The Sting,’ inspired by real-life con games of Fred & Charley Gondorff brothers, and documented by David Maurer in his book — The Big Con: The Story of the Confidence Man, directed by George Roy Hill is about two professional grifters — Paul Newman & Robert Redford –– who try to con the mob boss.

Based on a true story

Charlie Wilson’s ‘War,’ starring Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and based on true story of Democratic Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson, who conspired with CIA operative Gust Avrakotos and socialite Joanne Herring to launch Operation Cyclone to help Afghan Mujahideen during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, is adapted from George Crile book ‘Charlie Wilson’s War: The Extraordinary Story of the Largest Covert Operation in History’.
