As per the final award of the Cauvery Tribunal, the State has to release 74.65 tmc of water in the months of June, July, August and September. So far the State has released 66.16 tmc water.
Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that as of Thursday, the shortfall in release of water to Tamil Nadu was 7.49 tmc. The state would release water depending on the inflow, and considering the necessity of water for farmers in the Cauvery basin, he added.
The minister said releasing water to the neighbouring state as per the tribunal award was a routine affair.
He said that as of Thursday, the total inflow to Cauvery reservoirs was 21,585 cusec. As much as 18,871 cusec water has been released to Tamil Nadu, and 11,266 cusec to canals in the Cauvery basin.
