'Save sanctity of Talacauvery, Bhagamandala'

Speaking to the media persons on Saturday, he said that there is an urgent need to protect the sacredness and sanctity of the religious centres. A meeting of few leaders of Kodagu will be convened soon to discuss the issues, he informed.

“It has been a ritual to bathe in Cauvery Sangama, empty stomach, offer pooja, bathe again and offer pooja at Talacauvery before receiving the ‘Theertha’ from ‘Brahma Kundike’.
Brahmagiri hill in Talacuvery is considered as a sacred place where the seers performed meditation and only those without parents are supposed to climb the hill. But, unfortunately all the traditions are being broken by the tourists in the recent times,” said Devaiah lamented.

He condemned the attitude of the tourists who are ignoring the traditions, by accepting Theertha without bathing in Cauvery Theertha Kola.

Most of the tourists take their small children along with them to Brahmagiri hills, which stands against the traditions, he said.

Samithi Working President Nanaiah, members Nayakanda Ayyanna, Koopadira Utthappa and others were present.
