All rural applications seeking title deeds cleared: Tahsildar

He was speaking at the Taluk Panchayat meeting held here on Saturday. Retorting to the query over issuing title deeds for the people residing in the lands like ‘gomala’, ‘panchayat forest’ and ‘porumboko,’ Prasanna informed that people residing in these areas are not forcefully evicted. At the same time, it is not possible to regularise the land.
About 40 per cent of the applications received are rejected owing to some technical abnormalities. The amendments should be made to the legislation itself. There are no special provisions to regularise these lands, he added.

He said a draft supporting the idea of giving title deeds to the people residing in “gomala” and panchayat forest land are being considered and is shortly expected to be presented. However, the people who have built their houses in “porumboko” land will not come under the consideration, he said.

Prasanna informed that the Food and Civil Supplies Department has issued notifications for the fresh applications to issue new ration cards and not for renewal of the cards. Stating that many people are confused, he said the applications for new ration cards are invited and the measures are yet to be taken to regularise the cancelled ration cards in the taluk.

The Udupi Taluk Veterinary Department is in a very bad condition with single doctor performing all jobs right from top to the bottom. Dr Shankar Shetty urged for additional staff. He said his department should have at least 15 members for the maintenance of the daily affairs. The department has none except him. He also performs various jobs at a time. It is very difficult to meet the demands from the public in terms of service offered by the department, he added.

There was also demand from the members to replace the PDO working in Haradi Gram Panchayat as he is reportedly not doing his job properly. Member Keshav Kumar alleged that the PDO is creating problems for the beneficiaries for sanctioning various beneficiary programmes including housing schemes.
