New party after bypoll: Sriramulu

Sriramulu, who is contesting as an Independent in the bypoll, was speaking to reporters at Hokrani Camp in the taluk on Monday.

He said he was holding discussions with regard to launching the party with several politicians and intellectuals. The modalities of the new party would be worked out after Janardhana Reddy is released from jail, the former minister said.

Sriramulu claimed that people in the region were seeking a change and that the bypoll would herald a new era. He reiterated that there was no question of returning to the BJP.

He regretted the incident of Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Siddaramaiah, being prevented from entering Allipura village by some people.

Sriramulu promised to give one acre of land, which is in his mother’s name, for the construction of houses for the residents of Hokrani Camp.
