Jaswinder Kaur, a resident of Karnal in Haryana, went missing from near Adarsh Nagar Metro station in north Delhi Sunday evening, police said.

"Her purse and slippers were found lying on the road near the metro station," police said. Kaur had come to meet relatives at Adarsh Nagar two days ago and was staying there.

Her husband Avtar Singh told police that he called her in the afternoon to inform her that he will come in the evening from Karnal to pick her up.

When Singh, who runs a garment shot at Karnal, was about to reach Adarsh Nagar in the evening, he called her again and asked her to wait for him near the metro station.

After reaching the spot, he called again but there was no response. He tried repeatedly but her phone was switched off.

He grew suspicious and as he was about to leave, he came to know that a woman's purse and slippers were lying in a lane near the metro station.

Singh identified those as his wife's belongings. He made a call to the police control room.

"We received a call and our team went to the spot," said a senior police officer.
After questioning people across the lanes and nearby shops, police could not find any witnesses to any kidnapping.

On the basis of Singh's complaint, a case of kidnapping has been registered. "We are questioning all the relatives of the victim and have formed special teams to locate the missing woman," added the officer.
