Ex-mayor Nataraj gets threat calls

Last Updated 30 November 2011, 19:50 IST

He was participating in a discussion on the lackadaisical approach of the legal cell, which has allegedly incurred heavy loss for the Palike. Nataraj said the legal cell had earned the dubious distinction of being the “illegal cell.”

“The lawyers collude with the rival party and allow the Palike to suffer huge losses,” said Nataraj.

Earlier in the discussion, JD(S) floor leader in the Council Padmanabha Reddy took the legal cell authorities to task for not appearing in the court relating to a property dispute due to which the BBMP had to lose the property. The leader said a civic amenity (CA) site in Vishwa Bharati House Building Layout in Avalahalli was handed over to the BBMP. However, the land grabbers generated fake documents and took possession of the property.

Joining the debate, Byrasandra corporator Nagaraj said in yet another case the Palike lost a property due to which a bus stand could not be constructed at Jayanagar 4th Block.

Responding to the discussion Commissioner Shankarlinge Gowda said he was aware that about 5,000 cases were  pending in various courts. Also, he promised that the legal cell would be strengthened.
