<p>“Eminent members of the judiciary could be judged only by an authoritative body of experts. It is not wise to bring judges under the Lokpal as we cannot have laypersons judging the judges,” Sorabjee said here on Sunday. <br /><br />He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the third commemorative lecture on former president R Venkataraman. <br /><br />Making it clear that he does not mean that there should be no accountability for judges, <br />Sorabjee said only a comprehensive body can watch the conduct of the judges.<br />He said the anti-corruption movement launched by social activist Anna Hazare had lost its direction with civil society members indulging in ‘unnecessary acts.’ <br /><br />“Why did Hazare have to campaign against a political party in Hissar? Such action sends wrong message to people,” Sorabjee said. <br /><br />He objected to Hazare’s call for flogging those who consume liquor.<br />Sorabjee also condemned the conduct of some core members of Team Anna. <br /><br />“(Aravind) Kejriwal is making all kinds of statements, sending the cheque to pay his dues directly to the Prime Minister. Kiran Bedi does mimicry and so on... What is happening is that the movement is losing focus,” he said.<br /><br /></p>
