Activists stop painting exhibition

About 30-40 Sanathana Samsthe activists attacked the venue and demanded the removal of the display of the 13 paintings of Ganesha on Friday.

Speaking to media persons, artist Purushottham Adve informed that the activists had brought a reference material sketched with the influence of the European art and demanded that the displayed paintings of the Lord is entirely different from the reference material and urged for the display of the art pieces similar to that of Raja Ravi Verma paintings, he said.

They cited the reason that the art lacks innocence and exhibits unusual depiction of Lord. Most of the paintings display malice and are contradictory to the concept of the Lord Ganesha. They threatened that if the artists go against their say, they might face life threat, Adve informed.

It was formally inaugurated by Taranga weekly Managing Editor Sandhya Pai and the expo has been shifted to Drishya Art Gallery in Udupi.
