Walkathon by Australian family for kids' cause to enter city today

The campaign under the aegis of ChildFund India, a non government organisation, is meant to raise funds for education of the under privileged children in south India.

The seven-member family of the Australian Nick Petrucco will meet representatives, leaders of various organisations, agencies, schools in Mysore city. The walkathon was flagged off at Kozhikode on December 9 and will culminate on January 11, 2012 at Chennai.

Kiriya Pushpa Family Helper Project Manager Fr Joanes, staff and school children will receive the Australian family at Bandipalya at 3.30 pm.

Thereafter, the team will walk through Gundurao Nagar, Muneeshwara Nagar, Dharamsingh Colony and reach Kiriya Pusha, partner organization of ChildFund India, at Silk Factory Circle according to a press release.

In a function to be held on December 15 at Kiriya Pushpa campus, the Australian family will distribute bicycles for girl children, school kits to children, educational packs for orphaned children, medical kits for HIV affected children, drinking water facilities for 67 Anganwadi centres and Balavadis.

The team will continue walkathon on December16 via Bannur to reach Bangalore on December 21, said the release.

Fr Joanes has requested the philanthropic Mysoreans to join the campaign and support the walkathon.
