Highway robber in khaki lands in police dragnet

Dinesh Rathi, a resident of Nangloi in outer Delhi, was arrested at Mangolpuri in the uniform of a police constable on Saturday night, Deputy Commissioner of Police B S Jaiswal said.

Rathi confessed to the police that he was involved in 16 criminal cases, including an attempt-to-murder case, since 2002.

“He used to rob commercial vehicles loaded with goods at Bhiwani in Haryana and Jaipur in Rajasthan. He, along with two other associates, committed the crimes wearing the Delhi police uniform ”Jaiswal added. Rathi targeted people who travelled alone on highways.

Police have recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 20 lakh from him. “We have identified Rathi’s associates and a hunt is on to nab them,” Jaiswal stated.

Senior citizen held

A senior citizen was arrested here for raping a minor in the neighbourhood, police said.
“A resident of Mangolpuri in outer Delhi, Hanuman Kumar, in his sixties, was arrested from his home on Sunday,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police B S Jaiswal.  

Kumar lured the four-and-a-half-year girl on the pretext of giving her some etables.He then threatened the minor of dire consequences after raping her. The victim’s parents rushed the girl to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital after she narrated the incident, and reported the matter to police.

“Doctors confirmed rape after medical examination. After that Kumar was booked,” said Jaiswal.

Woman rescued

A Nepali was arrested here for trafficking people to Saudi Arabia. Police have rescued a woman from his confinement.

Acting on a tip-off, Narain Thapa was arrested from his home after a raid was conducted at Madanpur Khadar in southeast Delhi, said Additional Commissioner Police (Southeast) Ajay Chaudhry.

Bhujanti Rai (29), a native of Sikkim, was rescued from his home. Thapa promised Rai a lucrative job in Saudi Arabia and cheated her. He told the police he planned to send her to the Gulf
