Arvind injury blow for Karnataka

Last Updated 13 December 2011, 17:00 IST

Arvind left the field shortly after tea on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy game against Punjab after landing on his knee in the outfield, and didn’t return again, thereby forcing the hosts to delay summoning the second new ball.

The senior paceman in the absence of R Vinay Kumar and Abhimanyu Mithun, Arvind will be crucial to Karnataka’s hopes of restricting Punjab when they begin the second morning on 278 for four.

Arvind had been forced to leave the field with a shoulder injury in the first innings of Karnataka’s last game, against Orissa in Bhubaneswar, forcing Stuart Binny to step into the breach.

Binny responded admirably with his first five-wicket haul, and pulled off an encore in the second innings when SL Akshay limped off with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of this ongoing game.
