Forest minister's fury costs manager job

Last Updated 14 December 2011, 19:20 IST

The minister has directed the suspension of the employee. He had a series of programmes in Gundlupet and adjoining forest divisions in the first week of December.

After a review meeting at Bandipur, he was supposed to go on a safari and have lunch at the JLR resort in Melukamanahalli.

According to sources, the minister went on a safari on a JLR vehicle and was upset by the poor sighting on that day.

It got worse at the resort, where the minister and his supporters arrived for lunch. The resort had other guests that day.

A source said the staff at the resort was ready when the minister and his supporters came there without prior intimation.

The manager, who was attending on the guests could not welcome the minister and the staff members took over the responsibility, which infuriated the minister.

Yogeeshwara directed the forest officials to suspend the JLR vehicles from safari service at Bandipur and this continued for two days. The minister calmed down after Gangaswamy, the manager, was suspended.

A top official at the JLR, speaking to Deccan Herald, admitted that Gangaswamy was suspended at the behest of the minister.

“It is unfortunate. We had to comply because he had suspended our safari vehicles,” he said.
