Plan panel to debate state of economy on Sept 1

Briefing reporters here, Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said besides overall state of the economy, the meeting will also discuss the integrated energy policy  Ahluwalia said “the meeting will give an opportunity to take a close and detailed look at the overall economic situation. May be we can have an idea about the probable range of growth rate.”

“As a run up to the mid-term appraisal of the Eleventh Plan (2007-12) we want to brief Plan Panel Minister members about the key issues that would come up for appraisal,”  he added.

Referring to the IEP, he said “the panel had made a number of suggestions on the energy policy.

There have been some progress on these. We will make an assessment of progress towards implementation of IEP.”
