Film stars to add glitter to Hoysalotsava

Demand to repair roads dominates meeting

They put down their requests at a meeting between the representatives of various organisations, leaders and officials of various departments at the deputy commissioner’s office held to discuss the Hoysalotsava, which is being held after a hiatus of seven years from January 18 to 22.

The district administration distributed the details of the programme to the invitees much before the beginning of the meeting. Tableaux from each taluk would be taken in a procession on January 18 and the inauguration will be held on the same evening. More than 20 committees and sub-committees have been formed and various cultural and sports activities will be held on the occasion.

H K Javaregowda, who spoke on the occasion said that inaugurations is being held in Halebeedu but the surroundings of the temple is pathetic and the road has not seen asphaltation since years. Repair works should not be substandard and should sustain wear and tear for at least two years, he added.

MLA Rudregowda objected for conducting inaugural ceremony in Halebeedu every time. Let the inauguration be held in Belur or other taluk kendras, he demanded.

Shravanabelagola MLA Puttegowda assured to extend support if the programme is held in their constituency.

MLA H S Prakash suggested to involve school children in large numbers and also renovate several temples in the taluks.

Deputy Commissioner Jagadish said that they have sought Rs One crore funds for the festival, out of which Rs 30 lakh has been released. The remaining funds are awaited, he said.

The artistes from across the state and from neighbouring states would be invited but the artistes from the district would be given priority. Already 101 artistes have registered their names, Jagadish said.

The MLAs said that the fund released is insufficient and the government should provide at least  Rs three crore for the festival.

No donations

The festival would be conducted with the amount released by the government and funds will not be collected from outsiders for any reason, he clarified.

Film actors Yash, Ramya, Doddanna, Sudeep, Ganesh, Tarun, Puneeth Rajkumar, Radhika Pandit and others will be invited to add glitter to the festival, he added.

MLC Patel Shivaram, CMC president C R Shankar and others participated.
