'Water from Kabini in June next'

For the city which still has water woes to register at times, here is a happy news.
Drinking water from Kabini second stage project will be commissioned in the first week of June next.

Speaking to media after inspecting the spot, minister S A Ramdas said, the water will cater to nearly six lakh people. The work taken up at a cost of Rs 108 crore under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) is near completion, with 70 per cent of works completed. The work had hit a road block owing to lack of sand, and copious rainfall.

A decision has been taken to reserve two sand yards for the project. Mayor Pushpalatha Chikkanna, MCC commissioner K S Raykar, executive engineer of Vani Vilas Water Works Subramanya and corporators were present during the inspection.
