Speaking at the inauguration of the event, Principal of the Government Composite College, C Prabhavathi opined that  such programmes organised at the border areas of the State helped in increasing awareness about Kannada.

Prabhavathi, however, expressed her unhappiness that despite having gained the classical language status, Kannada language was still not getting its due importance.

“A lot of Kannada programmes need to be implemented in the rural areas to change the present situation,” she suggested.

Retired headmaster S Venkatesh Murthy pointed that Kannada had been conferred with the highest number of Jnanpith awards. He also enlightened the students on the works and life of G P Rajarathnam.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat members Manjunath, Nagabhushan Rao and Nagraj were also present on the occasion.
