A 50-year-old woman died allegedly during a brawl with her daughter-in-law and her family members over a LPG cylinder in Vivek Vihar area of east Delhi, police said.

The family members of Charan Kaur, a resident of Kasturba Nagar in Vivek Vihar, alleged that relatives of their daughter-in-law Rachna, attacked and murdered Kaur after a brawl.

Police are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.

According to police, Rachna and son of the victim, Balbir eloped last year and married. Rachna was Balbir’s neighbour. Few months after their marriage, their relationship became strained and they fought regularly.

“A few months ago, Rachna left the house and went to her parents place in the neighbourhood.

“On Wednesday she came to her husband’s place and wanted a gas cylinder. However Kaur, her mother in law refused,” a police official said.

The argument turned ugly and family members of Rachna and two sons of Kaur joined in. The altercation turned physical. Kaur became unconscious and was immediately shifted to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Balbir was not at home when this happened.
